Frugal Film Project March 2026 - Looking Up

For this month’s challenge, I decided to do a walk in downtown Dayton, Ohio to make some images of architecture. Dayton really does have some fantastic buildings in many different architectural styles. As a theme, I decided on “Looking Up” - instead of trying to take an image of the entire building, I shot upwards and tried to interpret what it is that might be interesting or different when walking around and looking up!

After about 2 hours I finished the roll, then headed home to develop. This time I rated and developed the HP5+ film at box speed, with Ilfosol 3 as a developer. Below are my favorite 10 images from the roll. Click on the first image to open in a new window and scroll through.

What do you think? Most of these were shot at around f/8 to f/11. The old triplet lens on the Rolleicord does a nice job when stopped down, while still retaining a somewhat “vintage” look.

Thanks as always for reading!
