Frugal Film Project April 2026 - All Things Must Come to an End

2026 has been a busy year for me, with my responsibilities at my 9-5 job increasing and several big projects taking up a lot of my time. So getting out and shooting has been difficult at best. The good thing about the Frugal Film Project has been that it’s always forced me to pick a theme and get out, even at times when I don’t want to.

I carried the old Rolleicord with me on a few hikes in April, with it taking me two weekends to crank through the 12 shot roll of HP5+. After developing and scanning, I came up with 6 images that really conveyed the moody weather I was hiking in. Click on the first image below to view in a new window and scroll through.

I’ve been a participating member of the Frugal Film Project group on Facebook for nearly 2.5 years. After each roll was shot and developed, I would post some images there and also a link in the comments to my blog post about that month. I enjoy sharing with others, and also reading other more in-depth posts like mine from other members. However, in early May the owner of the page made a decree that my posting of my blogpost link there was considered to be spam and self-promotion, and that it wasn’t welcomed anymore.

To be frank, that really pissed me off. I don’t think anyone in the group was abusing the rules in any way, shape, or form. And that includes me. Often my posts would stir up some good discussion about the project. But now I am done with it. I won’t be participating in the challenge moving forward and have left the facebook group. Best of luck to the rest of the folks that remain.

For now I have a lot on my plate, so I won’t immediately miss the motivation that the FFP gave me. But in time that may change. We’ll see.

Thanks for reading,

Jeremy
